when sam cooke sings, you listen.

consuming

sufjan || BQE + A Sun Came + Live sessions

volcano choir || island, is

tokyo police club || your english is good live 06

 russian circles || geneva (damn kickass)

the ventures || wipe out live

thom yorke & new friends || skirting on the surface

grizzly bear || while you wait for the others – spinner live

grizzly bear || ready, able - spinner live

jay-z || death of auto-tune

white stripes || the denial twist

the gossip || love long distance

watching their spinner live and then listening to the album again makes all the difference.

saw this off someone’s blog. drummer is awesome. damn classic. we could cover this with max distortion. haha

FINALLY. someone reuploaded basin street blues. high on the list of songs i want played at my funeral.

this is what singing should sound like. and black man singing on primetime tv in the 60s. yes, this was a BIG deal then.

basin street blues is more than just a song. to me it’s an anthem of resilience.

this could be the song you hear when you lose a job, become bankrupt, get beaten to the floor and yet you sit there staring out the window, tears dried up, smiling, because you know you’re still alive. though the song’s probably about a world without racism.

i can write a full essay about the many things this song makes my heart feel.

- do download this before someone takes it down again. the sam cooke version is ass shit difficult to find.

the tv shows then had no color but it sure as hell beats what we have today.

and a lot of bss live sessions from canaddiction. where is a live version of windsurfing nation?!?

and still, this my favorite version of fucked up kid.  slightly faster than most versions, yet makes maximum difference.

From 3:44, it’s a beautiful swirl of sound. 3 guitars but they just melt and flow into each other.
